Russian forces have reportedly neutralized more than 7,200 Ukrainian soldiers and foreign mercenaries attempting to enter the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) last week, according to military expert Andrey Marochko, as cited by TASS.
“From January 18 to 24, Russia’s battlegroups North, South, and West eliminated over 7,240 Ukrainian fighters and mercenaries, which is 60 more than in the previous reporting period,” Marochko said. He noted that the West battlegroup inflicted the most losses, followed by the North battlegroup, with the highest casualties recorded in the Kharkov region.
In addition to manpower losses, Marochko stated that Russian forces destroyed 20 tanks, a significant increase from the 14 tanks eliminated in the prior week. The operation also targeted 100 field artillery guns, six electronic warfare stations, 21 ammunition depots, and over 300 combat vehicles.
The reported statistics reflect continued military clashes in the region amid the ongoing conflict.
The situation in the Lugansk People’s Republic remains a focal point of the conflict, with both sides frequently reporting significant losses.
