Samoa defeated Tonga with a final score of 53-45 in the U21 Oceania Netball Qualifiers, securing their place at the Netball World Youth Cup in Gibraltar in 2025. After a week of competition among five Pacific Island teams, Samoa claimed the top spot, followed closely by Tonga, who also qualified for the tournament. The Cook Islands took third place, rounding out the top three teams set to represent the Pacific region.
Despite a strong effort from Tonga, Samoa’s superior play in the final quarter ensured their win. Tonga held their ground throughout the match but could not close the gap against Samoa’s attacking strength. Both teams demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, highlighting the strength of Pacific netball ahead of the 2025 tournament.
Netball Fiji and Papua New Guinea also competed, but the top three placings went to Samoa, Tonga, and the Cook Islands. The tournament continues to support the region’s growing talent as these teams prepare to face global competition on the world stage.
