Samoa’s Tifa Moana and Tonga Tala delivered standout performances at the 2025 PacificAus Netball Series in Brisbane, with Samoa clinching the championship and Tonga securing third place.
Tifa Moana finished the tournament unbeaten, edging Scotland 54-52 in a thrilling final to claim their first title in five years. Head coach Natalie Mathews expressed her pride in the team’s achievement.
“It’s been a dream week so far, and I’m still processing what’s going on, but I am incredibly proud of the girls’ performance on and off the court,” she said.
Tonga Tala also made a strong statement, defeating the Fiji Pearls 69-51 in the third-place playoff. The victory capped off a solid campaign, which included wins over Papua New Guinea (69-37) and Fiji (71-47) .
Tala missed out on a spot in the final after falling to First Nations Australia (58-56), Samoa (55-52) and Scotland in hard-fought 57-50 contests.
Both Samoa and Tonga now set their sights on climbing the world rankings as they push for Commonwealth Games qualification in 2026.
