Tonga’s student-athletes are being trained to compete clean and play fair in a new wave of school workshops.
The Tonga Sports Association and National Olympic Committee (TASANOC) has rolled out Safeguarding and Anti-Doping workshops across high schools in Tongatapu ahead of the annual intercollegiate sports competition set to start tomorrow at the Teufaiva Stadium.

The sessions, held at schools including Api’fo’ou College, Liahona High School, Tonga High School, and Queen Salote College, aim to protect athlete welfare and promote integrity in sport.
“This workshop equips them with the knowledge to uphold safety and well-being in sports,” TASANOC said in a statement. “Protecting our athletes is a top priority.”
At Api’fo’ou College, TASANOC commended students and staff for their engagement, saying the sessions “reinforced the importance of protecting athletes, ensuring clean sports, and upholding the values of fair play and integrity.”
TASANOC also emphasised that these programs are part of a broader effort to ensure young athletes understand the risks of doping and the responsibilities of safe sporting conduct.
“Mālō ‘aupito to the students and staff for their participation,” they said.
During the intercollegiate sports competition, TASANOC says it will continue supporting schools to create a “safe and supportive environment for all athletes.”
