The Scottish Thistles have dashed Tonga Tala’s aspirations for a fifth consecutive PacificAus Sports Netball Series title with a decisive 57-50 victory. This win secures Scotland’s spot in the championship playoff against Samoa, rendering the final day of round-robin matches a formality.
Scotland’s performance was a collective effort, with the team stating, “A full squad effort saw us grind out a 57-50 win over Tonga. Another step forward in our PacAus campaign, with everyone stepping up when it mattered.”
In other matches, Samoa maintained their unbeaten run by defeating the Australian First Nations Black Swans 54-42. Meanwhile, Fiji overcame Papua New Guinea with a 60-49 scoreline.
The final day will feature the playoff for first and second place between Samoa and Scotland, while Tonga Tala will compete for third place. The PacificAus Sports Netball Series concludes on February 22 at Nissan Arena in Brisbane.
