Applications are now open for She Leads Fale Alea 2025, a program designed to equip young Tongan women with leadership skills and firsthand experience in parliamentary processes.
Organized by Take The Lead (TTL) in partnership with the Office of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga, the initiative provides a platform for women aged 16-29 to engage in policy discussions and governance.
Set to take place in April 22-29, this year’s program revolves around the theme “Sustainability & Resilience.” It highlights the importance of young women in shaping Tonga’s future while balancing cultural values with modern leadership challenges.
“She Leads Fale Alea empowers young women to step into leadership roles with confidence,” TTL said. “It strengthens their ability to contribute meaningfully to national discussions.”
Participants will take part in parliamentary debates focusing on legislative and policy issues across key sectors.
To be eligible, applicants must be Tongan nationals residing in Tonga, fluent in written and spoken Tongan, and available from April 22-29. The deadline for applications is April 4.
She Leads Fale Alea is the only practice parliament held annually for female youth across the Pacific Islands.
