A 17-year-old soldier who was stabbed during a brawl at a Ma’ufanga nightclub last month has died, according to Chief Superintendent ‘Atunaisa Taumoepeau of the Longlongo Police Station.
Vaiola Hospital informed the police of his passing, Taumoepeau told Tonga Broadcasting.
The victim was initially hospitalized for a month following the stabbing incident. After being discharged to recover at home, he was readmitted to the hospital, where he remained until his sudden death.
Police and the Ministry of Health have not yet confirmed the cause of death, stating it is unclear whether it resulted from his injuries or other medical conditions.
No arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed in connection with the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
