Grammy-nominated artist Josh Tatofi will headline the Heilala 9s Giveback Tonga Concert on Saturday, July 5, at Tonga Sports Stadium in Nuku’alofa.
The concert will conclude the inaugural Heilala Rugby League 9s tournament, running from July 3 to 5, featuring men’s, women’s, and under-18 teams from Tonga and abroad.
Tavaka Fangupō of Tonga Rugby League described the event as a “unique blend of sport, culture, and entertainment,” aiming to showcase young talent from Tonga and beyond.
Tatofi’s return follows his performance at the ‘Atele Indoor Stadium last August where he delivered a free concert as part of his South Pacific tour. The event, supported by local sponsors, drew a packed crowd and included a youth outreach session promoting positive life choices.
Tatofi, known for his soulful blend of Hawaiian and Tongan music, has previously captivated audiences across the Pacific. Reflecting on his performances, Tatofi stated, “I never planned to sell out stadiums; I just wanted to make good music that I love and enjoy playing”
The upcoming concert is part of the Heilala Festival, celebrating Tongan culture and heritage. Organisers anticipate a strong turnout, with Tatofi’s performance expected to be a highlight of the festivities.
