The Tonga National University (TNU) is currently undergoing a key registration assessment by the Tonga National Qualification and Accreditation Board (TNQAB), required for new institutions seeking official status as a Post-Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) provider.
From October 30 to November 1, a TNQAB panel evaluated TNU’s operations and gathered input from stakeholders across the education sector, according to a statement from the TNU.

The review will determine if TNU meets national standards, allowing it to operate as a fully recognized tertiary institution in Tonga.
While the TNQAB assessment is underway, TNU continues regular activities, maintaining academic programs for students.
The board’s final recommendations will be important for TNU’s future, as formal accreditation would establish its position within Tonga’s higher education framework.
