A Tongan delegation led by Lu’isa Manuofetoa attended the Global Disability Summit in Berlin on April 2-3, 2025.
Manuofetoa, Deputy Director for the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), was joined by Ofeina Leka, President of the Tonga National Visual Impairment Association (TNVIA), and Rhema Misa, President of the Lavame’a Ta’e’iloa Disabled People Association, (LATA).

The summit, co-hosted by Germany, Jordan, and the International Disability Alliance, aimed to advance the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Manuofetoa addressed key areas for disability inclusion, including accessibility, assistive technology, support services, non-discrimination, social protection, and community-based inclusive development.
The delegation’s participation highlights the the government’s commitment to promoting the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities on the global stage.
