The 2025 Tonga Motor Show has attracted 30 contestants, its highest number since the event began eight years ago.
This year marks the first time the event, hosted by Vaitohi Enterprises, has run under its new name, changing from the Tonga Car Show to the Tonga Motor Show, reflecting a broader celebration of vehicle innovation and style.

Event organiser Sitiveni Vaitohi said registration was free to encourage more locals to participate. “We want more locals to join and enjoy the motor show experience,” he said.
Categories include engine bay, interior, exterior, lighting and sound system, with prizes awarded to the top three entries in each.
Vaitohi Enterprises, which made headlines last year for showcasing the first Teslas in Tonga, continues its push for electric vehicle awareness. “We support electric vehicles as a cleaner, cost-effective option,” the company stated, aligning with ongoing government efforts to explore alternatives to rising fuel costs.

The show kicks off today from 2pm to 8pm at Tungi Colonade. Free refreshments, a DJ, kids’ activities, giveaways and even free haircuts are planned.

According to Vaitohi Enterprises, judging will focus on creativity and presentation. Final preparations are underway as excitement builds for Tonga’s biggest automotive showcase yet.
