Tonga Police have ramped up their anti-drug operations with two raids conducted over the past week in Hauloto, resulting in multiple arrests and the seizure of illicit substances and cash.
On 2 January 2025, a raid on a bush allotment led to the arrest of one male and three females, aged 38-43. Police seized 21 packs of cannabis (8.17g), five packs of methamphetamine (0.14g), over TOP $800 in cash, and drug-related utensils. The suspects have been charged with possession of illicit drugs and utensils.
A subsequent raid at the same location on 6 January uncovered 27 packs of methamphetamine (0.86g), two packs of cannabis (1.54g), TOP $300 in cash, electronic devices, and utensils. A 21-year-old male and his 32-year-old wife were arrested for alleged possession of illicit drugs.
“These suspects and the seized items are currently in police custody as investigations are ongoing,” a Tonga Police spokesperson confirmed.
Tonga Police reiterated their commitment to disrupting the usage and distribution of illicit substances, saying, “We are determined to protect our communities.”
Investigations into both raids remain active.
