The Tonga Police Transnational Crime Unit (TCU) has been recognized for its outstanding efforts in tackling transnational crime, nominated as one of the year’s top units within the Pacific Transnational Crime Network (PTCN).
Detective Sergeant Luseane Fatai received the prestigious “PTCN Team Member of the Year 2024” award for her contributions, highlighting Tonga’s commitment to fighting organized crime across the region.
The PTCN, a collaborative intelligence network under the Pacific Island Chiefs of Police, includes 28 Transnational Crime Units across 20 Pacific countries, including Tonga.
The network aims to enhance law enforcement’s ability to detect, investigate, and disrupt transnational and serious organized crime.
This week, PTCN members gathered in Vanuatu for the PTCN Capability Development Forum, focused on strengthening regional partnerships with the theme “Keeping Communities Safe.”
Through the Tonga-Australia Policing Partnership, the AFP provides ongoing support and mentorship, assisting local police in investigations and crime prevention efforts across Tonga.
