The 2025 Tonga Police Women’s Advisory Network (TPWAN) Annual Conference has brought together female officers and leaders to discuss leadership, integrity, and work-life balance.
The two-day event, attended by nearly 200 women from Tonga Police, featured high-ranking officers, international advisors, and dignitaries from Australia and New Zealand.

Commissioner of Police Shane McLennan led the opening, joined by Deputy Commissioners, Commissioned Officers, and representatives from the Tonga-New Zealand Policing Programme and Tonga-Australia Policing Partnership.
TPWAN Chairlady, Chief Inspector Ófa Paseka, highlighted the growing presence of women in policing: “There are 198 women serving—169 as police officers and 29 in administrative roles. Notably, for the first time in history, four women are part of the Band Recruit Wing 53.”
The conference also featured guest speaker New Zealand Deputy High Commissioner Leitu Sa, who emphasized integrity and diplomacy: “A truly great diplomat does more than represent a country; they embody the values of integrity, empathy, and patience.”

Workshops led by TNZPP Senior Advisor Paula Stack and NZ Police Officer Safety Pacific Senior Advisor Emma Fleming provided practical skills to support women’s leadership in policing.
The conference focused on mentorship, career development, and policy changes to empower women in law enforcement.
