Tonga Power Limited (TPL) has appointed Mr. Scott Westbury as its new Chief Executive Officer, a role set to improve the company’s commitment to delivering reliable and sustainable energy in Tonga.
Mr. Westbury brings a strong background in the energy sector, having started his career with Rio Tinto and later holding senior roles at New Zealand Aluminium Smelters Limited. With over two decades of experience, including his recent role as General Manager of Power Schemes, he has expertise in managing complex power systems and supporting sustainable practices.
Holding both a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Engineering from the University of Canterbury and a Master’s in Light Metals Reduction Technology from the University of Auckland, Mr. Westbury is well-equipped to lead TPL’s initiatives in energy security and reliability.
TPL said in a statement that it “looks forward to Mr. Westbury’s guidance and vision as the company builds upon its achievements to better serve the energy needs of the people of Tonga.”
