Sione Mahe Paea I Alaska Tokotaha, Head Boy of Tonga High School (THS), was named Dux for 2024 during the school’s prize-giving ceremony at the THS Stadium on November 29.
Hailing from the villages of Petani, Niuafo’ou; Fakakai, Ha’apai; and Ha’alalo, Tongatapu, Tokotaha excelled academically, particularly in Form 7 Mathematics, securing his position as the top student. He received over $3,000 in cash prizes and numerous trophies for his accomplishments.
In addition, he was awarded the prestigious King Tupou VI Coronation Prize Scholarship, which will support his studies in New Zealand.

Other schools also recognized their top students. Lilatina Fetau-Ki-Muli Fangupo was named Dux of Haʻapai High School, while Mounga Taufateau earned the title at Tonga College. Queen Sālote College’s Dux was Head Girl Rachel Mele Tupou Tatafu.
Tupou College Toloa named two Duces, Filimone Jr Matakaiongo and Timote Fonokalafia, during their ceremony on November 27. Meanwhile, ‘Apifo’ou College awarded Amelia Melinda Vaihu as Dux on November 22.

The accomplishments of these students highlight academic excellence across Tonga’s schools, with Sione Tokotaha’s achievements serving as a standout moment for Tonga High School in 2024.
