The Ministry of Infrastructure has started testing of a new pothole repair truck, often referred to as an Asphalt Crack Filling Sealing Machine, on the Bypass Road in Ma’ufanga.
The pothole repair truck, designed for asphalt and cement pavement crack repairs, is capable of sealing cracks on highways, municipal roads, airport runways, and country side roads.

The truck, which is owned by a Chinese business, is capable of pouring asphalt and glue to seal cracks effectively.
This test was done at the corner of a road turning into ‘Apifo’ou College in Ma’ufanga.
The truck features a large capacity hopper, fast heating, and thermal insulation. Its design offers stability, maneuverability, and ease of operation compared to similar equipment, with a long service life expected.

The testing aims to assess its effectiveness in real-world conditions before broader implementation across Tonga’s infrastructure.
