Tonga will observe National Prayer Week from January 6 to 10, with Christian denominations across the country coming together to pray for the nation’s wellbeing.
This period is a time of unity and reflection for Tonga, as communities collectively pray for the country’s health, prosperity, and spiritual growth in the year ahead.
The annual tradition typically involves two prayer services per day, starting Monday morning and concluding Friday evening. Each church will set its own prayer themes for the services, focusing on different aspects of the country’s needs.
During this week, government offices and businesses are expected to close earlier to allow employees to attend the services.
Some workplaces will adjust their schedules by starting later in the morning to accommodate those attending morning prayers.
The Royal Family will not be in Tonga during the prayer week.
