The Tonga national women’s darts team achieved a milestone by securing the silver medal at the 4th South Pacific Darts Championships in Suva, Fiji, on Friday. This marks their best performance to date in the tournament.
The team, comprising Kalina Soakai, Fineeva Dilger, Malia Jones, Angela Hikila, Hulita Kaihea, Rachel Taukeiaho, and Faka’anaua Tuitavuki, under the management of Sulia Perkins, delivered commendable performances.

They won against Nauru, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Fiji, and achieved their first victory against Niue. However, in the final, they were bested by the defending champions, the Cook Islands.
Neil Dalgety, President of the South Pacific Darts Association and Club Captain of the Tonga Darts Association, praised the team’s efforts. “Our Ladies with their silver medals, congratulations, your hard work and dedication had been rewarded.”
In the mens’ category, PNG men’s team walked away with the gold while the Cooks settled for silver. Tonga’s men were placed second last.

The championship witnessed participation from a record seven nations in the women’s division, with Fiji making its debut and PNG and Nauru returning to the event. The collective aim among these countries is to gain recognition for darts as a sport eligible for inclusion in the South Pacific Games and Mini Games.
The 5th South Pacific Darts Championships are scheduled to be held in the Cook Islands.
