The tourism sector is embracing digital marketing to attract more visitors, following a workshop held yesterday in Nuku‘alofa.
The Digital Tourism Workshop, organised by Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) Australia in partnership with the Tonga Tourism Authority Board (TTAB), was also supported by the Ministry of Tourism (MOT) and the Tonga Tourist Association (TTA).
The event aimed to equip local businesses with digital tools and strategies to enhance their online presence and boost international visitor numbers.
The initiative is key for tourism recovery. “Digital marketing is no longer optional—it’s essential for reaching global audiences and driving tourism growth,” a statement from PTI read.
Participants learned about website optimization, social media engagement, and online booking systems, areas seen as vital for Tonga’s competitiveness in the Pacific tourism market.
“Tonga has incredible tourism potential, and embracing digital platforms will help us showcase our unique culture and experiences to the world,” the MOT stated.
The workshop is part of ongoing efforts to support Tonga’s tourism industry, which has faced challenges in recent years due to global travel disruptions.
