Thirty-six tourism workers and community members in Tongatapu are enhancing their skills through a 10-day training program focused on customer service, communication, and housekeeping.
The program, running from February 3 to 12, brings together employees from various tourism businesses alongside individuals eager to enter the industry. Trainers from Tonga National University and ‘Ahopanilolo Technical Institute are leading the sessions.
Funded by PACER Plus, the initiative aims to strengthen the tourism sector by equipping workers with essential skills. Participants engage in hands-on learning, refining their approach to hospitality standards.
With tourism being a key driver of Tonga’s economy, attendees see the program as a vital step in improving professionalism and boosting job opportunities.
Many expressed their appreciation for the practical skills gained and the chance to network with others in the industry.
