A tragic incident at Tapuhia Landfill in Vaini on Tuesday this week resulted in the death of a 32-year-old man from Ngele’ia. The victim was operating a heavy machinery loader when the machinery overturned, trapping him underneath.
Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene, rescuing the man and transporting him to Vaiola Hospital. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to severe internal injuries and fractures shortly after arrival.
Tonga Police have launched an investigation into the accident, and an inquest will be held upon its completion to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
