Tropical Depression 05F, currently located south of Vanuatu, is tracking southeast but poses a low risk of developing into a tropical cyclone, according to the Fua’amotu Weather Forecasting Centre.
As of Tuesday evening, forecasters assessed a low to moderate chance of TD05F strengthening into a cyclone today, with the risk dropping to very low from tomorrow.
The system is expected to transition into a subtropical low and move out of the tropics by Thursday.
While TD05F is not predicted to intensify into a cyclone, its associated weather patterns may still bring heavy rainfall and thunderstorms to parts of Tonga, including Vava’u and Ha’apai, where a heavy rain warning and flash flood advisory remain in effect.

Authorities advise residents in low-lying areas to remain alert for possible flooding. The Tonga Meteorological Service continues to monitor the system’s movement and will provide updates if conditions change.
