Tupou College has claimed victory in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow finals with their groundbreaking “Trash to Gold” project.
The winning concept transforms waste into valuable resources, demonstrating an innovative approach to sustainability. Apifoou College secured second place with a water filtration system, while Tonga College took third with a smart water management solution.
All four finalist schools, including Tonga High School, showcased practical and impactful ideas with real-world applications.
Both Guest of honour Mr. Soane Vahe and the Tonga National University’s Vice Chancellor, Dr Guilio Pāunga, were thrilled by the students’ ingenuity and praised the competition, calling it a testament to the talent and fresh ideas of the nation’s youth.
Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is an annual competition encouraging students to use STEM to solve pressing issues. This year’s entries highlighted innovative and feasible solutions to environmental challenges.
