The Lord Speaker has confirmed two nominations for Tonga’s next Prime Minister, with the selection process set for 10 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday 24th.
The nominations, submitted by elected representatives, closed at 4:30 p.m. today. One was filed on Friday, December 20, and the second earlier today.
“The Elected Representatives will elect Tonga’s Prime Minister at this meeting from the two nominated candidates, whose names will be revealed tomorrow,” said the Lord Speaker’s office.
TOT had reported earlier of the two likely candidates.
The decisive meeting will take place at the Legislative Assembly and will be livestreamed via the Assembly’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. Local media will also broadcast the proceedings live on radio.
