The Wallabies’ Rugby Championship campaign ended in disappointment after a 33-13 loss to the All Blacks in Wellington. Despite a strong start, Australia struggled to maintain momentum, finishing at the bottom of the ladder with only one win.
Early on, the Wallabies kept the ball in hand and attacked aggressively, putting the All Blacks under pressure. Fraser McReight’s early try and Noah Lolesio’s penalty goals had Australia leading 13-12 near halftime. But, defensive lapses and ill-discipline proved costly.
Wallabies captain Harry Wilson reflected on the game, “We started fast, but struggled with possession in the second half.”
New Zealand quickly regained control with Caleb Clarke’s try before the break, followed by second-half scores from Tamaiti Williams and Clarke. The All Blacks’ powerful attack, led by fullback Will Jordan, overpowered Australia.
All Blacks captain Scott Barrett praised his team’s resilience, saying, “There was real grit in defense.”
