The ‘Ofa Tui ‘Amanaki (OTA) Centre and Tonga Red Cross Society (TRCS) commemorated World Disability Day 2024 with at is headquarters yesterday.
Guests, parents, and students gathered to emphasize the importance of empowering persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future.
The OTA Centre highlighted its year-long efforts to foster inclusivity through livelihood, health, and community support programs.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has extended a helping hand in all ways and forms,” the TRCS said in a statement.
This year’s theme, “Amplifying the Leadership of Disabled People for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,” aligns with the inaugural leadership of Tonga’s International Disability Week by Lavame’a Ta’e’iloa Disabled People Association Inc.

Proclaimed by the United Nations in 1992, the annual observance on December 3 promotes understanding of disability issues and advocacy for dignity and rights.
Events in Tonga led by LATA will continue throughout the week since starting with a prayer service on Sunday, ending on Friday.
