Ten swimmers representing Tonga are set to make a splash today at the 2025 Fiji Long Course Grand Prix #2 at the Aquatic Centre in Suva. The team aims to secure qualifications for several upcoming competitions, including the Fiji Age Nationals, Open Nationals, Fiji School Nationals, and the Mini Games in Palau.
The squad features a mix of young talent from various schools. On the girls’ side, 15-year-olds Manu Ata Siua from ‘Apifo’ou College and Angelina Uhi from Queen Salote will compete in the 50m breaststroke and 100m freestyle events. They are joined by 13-year-old Manatu Siua, also from ‘Apifo’ou College, and 12-year-olds Katina Toumoua and Chantal Tano’a from Ocean of Light, who will participate in multiple events, showcasing their versatility.
The boys’ lineup includes 15-year-olds Manase Toumoua from ‘Apifo’ou College, Kawika Folaumoetu’i, and Taniela Sefesi from ‘Apifo’ou College, each competing in the 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, and 100m freestyle. They are accompanied by 14-year-old Alexander Villiami from ‘Apifo’ou College and 13-year-old Ngatuehau Lui from Tupou College, who will take on various disciplines, including the 200m individual medley and 100m butterfly.
Officials accompanying the team are Siutaisa Toumoua and Kilisitina Uhi.

The team’s sponsors include Malolo Swim Club, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tanoa Hotel and Tonga Swimming.

According to Fiji Swimming, the series includes three meets, with the second meet’s warm-up starting at 8 am and the competition commencing at 10 am. Swimmers are seeded according to their times, ensuring a competitive environment that fosters excellence.
