Government representatives and cyber sector leaders from across the globe will unite at the inaugural Pacific Cyber Capacity Building and Coordination Conference (P4C) held from 2 to 4 October 2023 in Nadi, Fiji.
The conference is organized by the Oceania Cyber Security Centre (OCSC) and the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE). It will bring together government officials, cyber security experts, and private sector representatives to discuss the challenges and opportunities of cyber security in the Pacific region.
The conference will focus on three key areas:
- Cyber security capacity building: The conference will discuss how to build the cyber security capacity of Pacific Island countries. This includes training government officials and cyber security professionals, developing cyber security policies and regulations, and creating a culture of cyber security awareness in the region.
- Cyber security coordination: The conference will discuss ways to improve coordination between government and private sector organizations in the Pacific region. This includes sharing information about cyber threats, developing joint response plans, and working together to protect critical infrastructure.
- Regional cyber security cooperation: The conference will discuss ways to strengthen regional cyber security cooperation in the Pacific region. This includes working with international partners, such as the United States and Australia, to share information and resources, and developing regional cyber security standards and frameworks.
The P4C is a critical opportunity for the Pacific region to come together and address the growing threat of cyber security. The conference will provide a platform for government and private sector leaders to share ideas, collaborate on solutions, and build a more secure future for the region.
In addition to the conference, there will also be a number of side events and workshops held in Nadi during the week of the conference. These events will provide participants with additional opportunities to learn about cyber security and network with other experts in the field.
The P4C is a major event for the Pacific region and is expected to have a significant impact on the future of cyber security in the region. The conference will help to build the cyber security capacity of Pacific Island countries, improve coordination between government and private sector organizations, and strengthen regional cyber security cooperation. This will help to protect the people and infrastructure of the Pacific region from cyber threats.
