The 5th China Medical Team to Tonga conducted a special health examination for the staff of the Royal Palace Office last week, marking the first time such an event was held for palace employees.
Six medical professionals carried out a series of health assessments, including blood pressure monitoring, finger pulse oximetry, blood glucose tests, ultrasound, and electrocardiogram exams.
“This is the first time to be invited to the office of the Royal Palace to carry out the physical examination for the staff,” the team stated, emphasizing their commitment to ongoing medical support for the Tongan people. “A very rewarding physical examination!” the team added.
Counsellor Ruan Dewen of the Chinese Embassy in Tonga was present to oversee the event and provide guidance.

The medical team also provided one-on-one consultations, offering tailored health management plans on the spot.
A specialized consultation service was also set up to address mental health concerns and sleep disorders among the palace staff.
More than 60 palace employees received medical evaluations during the event.
Since arriving in Tonga last June, the China Medical Team has conducted similar visits including a first-aid training and health checkup for staff at His Majesty’s Prisons last October. The team also spent time in Vava’u last year providing free consultations, surgeries, and health check-ups.
