Young women will take centre stage in Tonga’s mock parliament next week.
The She Leads Fale Alea 2025 program begins with an induction from April 22 to 25, followed by sitting days on April 28 and 29. The initiative, part of the Take the Lead program, is run in partnership with the Legislative Assembly of Tonga.
Elizabeth Kite, Founding CEO of Take the Lead, said, “She Leads Fale Alea ‘O Tonga is the only programme of its kind in Tonga whereby it is designed by young women for young women to harness their potential political leadership skills through training, mentorship, and a mock parliament.”
This year’s theme, “Sustainability & Resilience,” highlights the role of young women in shaping Tonga’s future—balancing cultural values with modern leadership challenges.
Participants, aged 16 to 29, will engage in debates and policy discussions across key sectors, gaining hands-on experience in public speaking, policy analysis, and parliamentary procedures.
