Police has arrested four people in separate drug busts, seizing methamphetamine, cannabis, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.
Two women from Lapaha, aged 37 and 50, were arrested on 30 June after their vehicle was stopped by a Response Unit patrol in the Hu’atolitoli area. Both were charged with possession of illicit drugs and drug utensils.
Police conducted a second operation, arresting a 34-year-old man from Ma’ufanga and a 37-year-old woman from Tokomololo.
In that raid, authorities seized methamphetamine, cannabis, cash, ammunition, electronic devices and other items. Both suspects were charged with possession of illicit drugs, drug-related utensils, and unlicensed ammunition.
In a statement, Tonga Police urged the public to support ongoing anti-drug efforts.
These arrests are part of Tonga Police’s continued crackdown on drug-related crime, which remains a growing concern across the country.
The accused are expected to appear in court later this month. Investigations are ongoing.
