In related news, ACT Brumbies flanker Tuaina Taii Tualima contracted dengue fever after the team’s Super Rugby Pacific match against Fijian Drua in Suva on February 15. The 27-year-old debuted in that game but was sidelined for subsequent matches. The Brumbies stated, “The team took all preventative measures against mosquito-borne illnesses, however one of our players, Tuaina Taii Tualima, has become ill after catching dengue fever.”
Fiji’s Ministry of Health and Medical Services recently conducted clean-up campaigns in dengue hot spots, including Matawalu village and Lovu seaside settlement, to curb the outbreak.
The public is advised to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, use repellents, and seek medical attention if symptoms arise.
