Chief Secretary and Secretary to Cabinet, Mr. Edgar Cocker is in the news again, for the wrong reasons. He has been the focus of an alleged altercation at a function recently in which he is seen in a photo being held while kneeling on the floor on one knee. He looks like he fell and was trying to get up.
The picture also conveys a situation where Prince Tu’ipelehake is shown standing over Edgar with his hand being held back by a minder, and it looks like he did something to Edgar resulting in his fall.
Witnesses at the scene say the young prince “pushed Edgar away” after he had made abusive remarks to girls who were in his company.
Edgar was alleged to have been in a drunken condition, and his behavior was abusive to say the least. This was not uncommon, according to witnesses who had seen him in a drunken condition at Naughty Ruby Night Club.
This is not the first time Edgar has been the subject of “gossipy conversations” citing drunkenness, inappropriate physical or verbal behavior toward girls.
This reporter has often been told about Edgar’s public inappropriate behavior, especially when under the influence of alcohol.
Not too long ago, a woman called to say how disgusted she was to be at a Government Ministry’s cocktail party in which Edgar was allegedly drunk. He is alleged to have “physically and inappropriately” tried to mishandle a girl, who resisted and finally broke away.
The question this reporter posed to the complainant was whether she was willing to testify in court about what she saw. She emphatically said yes! “I saw him misbehaving, and others saw it too,” she said.
Social media conversations about this incident have built up like a wild fire, with reports from actual witnesses who were there, as well as those based on hearsay.
Irrespective of the minute details of what happened and how they happened, the fact is, an incident has brought disrepute to Edgar Cocker, supposedly the closest administrator to the Prime Minister, and a senior CEO looked up to by other Government CEO’s.
Calls have gone out for women in the civil service to whom Edgar has demonstrated inappropriate behavior to come forward and report any incidence to the authorities.
Attempts to make contact with Edgar have failed, as this story goes for publication.
Calls have also gone out to the Prime Minister, as well as to the PSC, to bring discipline to this chief civil servant who seem to be no longer civil in his behavior.
END.
